Jo Bertrand has been involved in ELT (English Language Teaching) for 14 years and has a wide range of experience as a teacher, teacher-trainer, examiner and materials writer in England, China, Indonesia and France. In 1999 and 2003  Jo received a CELTA and a DELTA (Diploma of English Language Teaching to Adults) respectively from International House, London. In 2004 she successfully completed the British Council Primary Teacher Training Course (PTTC). She has been working with the British Council since 2001.
 
Jo is currently:
  • the educational advisor for British Council primary language assistants worldwide.
  • giving regular teacher development seminar talks for Cambridge ESOL organised by the IUFM in France.
  • co-writing a course book for the English language primary classroom.
  • an active member of TESOL France and is the primary contributor to Teaching Times magazine.
  • a member of IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language).

Nicky Francis is a teacher, teacher trainer and Cambridge examiner who has been working in ELT for 10 years. Her teaching experience at the British Council and her previous work with primary children have been a springboard for creating and developing original materials for using authentic storybooks with children. Nicky has both the CELTA  (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults) from International House, and the Primary Teacher Training Course (PTTC) from the British Council, Paris.

Nicky is currently:

  • working extensively with bilingual children at the British Council.
  • researching the use of phonics in her young learner classrooms.
  • a member of TESOL France (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language).
  • giving regular INSETT sessions for British Council teachers.
  • providing training sessions on using IWBs (Interactive White Boards) with young learners
